You are so stupid!
All you mommies must have witnesses some kind of childish outbursts, especially when you are in a supermarket. Sometimes these outbursts are merely just, well, childish. Other times they make you turn your head, and for just one split second, you wish you were the mom of that angry child. The worst is when you see the mommy becomes defeated, and eventually gives in to what her child demands.
Well, I am definitely that mom who wishes she were the other mom. Caleb and I were walking down the ice cream isle, the isle where I believe a lot of "educational opportunities" take place. As I was deciding on which full-fat flavored treat to take home, I saw, heard, and almost felt a 11-year-old (my guess) boy's tantrum.
Obviously the mother and the boy were arguing about the ice cream. From what I saw, I concluded that the mother said no to the boy. In between these two people's screaming match, the boy also showed that he was not very happy with his mother's "no"by slamming a door shut and stomping his feet. He then raised his voice, I firmly believe he did so because he wanted every shopper in the whole entire store to know how unfair life is without his treat, "you are so stupid! Stupid, stupid!"
I then expected the mother to chew off the boy's head. Instead, I heard nothing. Silence. I glanced their way, the mother just kept walking with her shopping cart. She finally gave in at the end, opening another door, she asked her son if he would prefer smaller sizes instead. Still upset, face still red, the boy reluctantly agreed. The end.
I tried really hard to keep my jaw shut. Thank God it stayed shut. I guess the mother had full authority at home, she just lets loose a little bit when she's out. I betcha the boy is a wonderful human being who always stays out of trouble at school. I also put my finger on the respectful, loving relationship these two have.
I truly believe God places situations in your life at times so you can learn. Oh, did I learn something from this. Welcome to the wonderful world of parenting (or not.)
