The Big 3-0

Turning 30 was a big deal to me. It meant I was no longer in my 20's, and that was devastating. I was now on my way to the 40's, my back would start to ache, my hands would start to wrinkle, and my eyes would begin to fail. Bottom line was, turning 30 gave me no reason to celebrate.

That was last year. This year, I turned 31. On that day, I just went into my room and cried.

One of my best friends turned 30 yesterday. I felt her pain, but I also knew, this was really a celebration of yet another year of life. And life is a gift.

Look at that. She even learned how to pick her nose already.

The end

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We girls have know each other since college. Like my not-too-long-ago post, I feel like we've know each other forever. We definitely have seen the worst of each other: denim overalls, baggy jeans, over-sized t-shirts, dating the wrong guys. We thought we were so cool that everyone wanted to be a part of our group.

(laugh)

But now that we're all grown up, half of us are married and have become mothers. Yet we still try to keep this never-dying friendship. We are not as cool as we used to be; we are wiser. We are so thankful for each other, and I know no matter where we end up in the future, we will always be friends.

(from left to right):

-Kimmi, I've know her since high school--oh, she is the best person to laugh with. You will never get enough of her.
-me
-Hermi, she is an awesome woman of God, who is also a children's pastor at a church in Cypress, California.
-Tanya, who is an inspiring actress, miss adventure. She wants to travel around the world. You can always count on her to cheer you up.
-Val, who is a school teacher, and an inspiration to me. She has a wonderful husband and an adorable one-year-old son.
-Charnel, who has been in my life forever. She is my sister.

About me

I am a wife to a loving, thoughtful husband, a mother of two little angels. Because of my husband's job, we have relocated from New Jersey to Los Angeles three years ago. I miss everything back East..NYC, Gray's Papaya, the subway..but know that LA is where God wants us to be right now. His grace is sufficient; I can't live through a day without depending on Him. My love affair with photography began when I was sixteen years old, when I saw a photograph taken by my cousin at South Seaport in NYC--it was a light switch turned on somewhere inside me. When I came home, I dove into photography. Since then, I've always had a burning desire to pursue photography. It was unfortunately cut short due to choosing another field of study during my college years..not until I became a stay-at-home mom and a God-given opportunity early this year, I was able to finally reunite with this passion..and the rest is history.
