Happy Thanksgiving

My eyelids are heavy, my body is sore. I can probably fall asleep sitting up, and yet I am sitting in front of a computer (that I borrowed from my sister,) trying to put together a blog entry. It won't be long, I promise. Today, we have officially hosted a Thanksgiving Day lunch. The truth is, trying to make a feast for 12 people gave me a few nightmares this past week. Yet, we look forward to the many more Thanksgivings that will come.

So...according to my MIL's recipe, I was supposed to cook the turkey for about 5 hours or more (Maybe my oven was extra strong. It was done four hours later.) As you can tell, the 439 in this picture--that was the time, not the temperature.

I knew it was going to be a very, very long day when I woke up with bags under my eyes, and having to deal with Caleb's "curiosity." Just recently, he discovered the fun of pulling out diaper wipes out of the case.

People were supposed to come at around 11:00 am. This was 30 minutes before, and I was still wearing my pajama pants, and Caleb was still trying put together some casserole dish.

Auntie came to the rescue. While Mommy is wearing her jeans by now and still her pajama top, Auntie helped out by picking out something for them to wear that was a little more presentable than their night-night clothes. I could not help it; my children are adorable.

Finally. Having slaved away for the whole morning, our guests arrived. Before we all would sit down and devour away my The-Food-Network-level cooking, I wanted to remember our very first Thanksgiving as a host. I sincerely hoped and prayed our guests will remember today, as well, in a good way.

Who says you can't put together inexpensive stuff and make your party "appear" to be nice? I did.

The kids even had their own table! What a nice treat.

Well. I tried to throw in some "healthy" vegetables. All that turkey?! You need some veggies.

Benny. Being the natural host that he is.

I'll be the first one to admit. This is the real reason people look forward to Thanksgiving. What turkey?

Besides, I loved watching Caleb jumping up and down on his bed, running laps around our tiny condo until he was semi-out of breath, with the kids that were in our wedding, six years ago. At the end of the day, I know it was very hard for him to see them leave...because the truth is, Mommy won't jump on his bed with him, nor will Mommy run laps around the house with him.

I know. He's starting young.

Bye-bye friends. I had fun.

Happy Thanksgiving. I hope yours was as busy, eventful, tiring, delicious, and heart-warming as mine.

I can only imagine caleb running around with the west kids, i love your caption on the last pic when he's looking out the window. ayayay, and those diaper wipes, i was laughing, i wonder if you were when you found him discover that.

i will come read to caleb anytime, next time i'll act it out for him too. I'll create a play or movie just for him :) with the drumbeat he liked on the keyboard too, hee hee.

About me

I am a wife to a loving, thoughtful husband, a mother of two little angels. Because of my husband's job, we have relocated from New Jersey to Los Angeles three years ago. I miss everything back East..NYC, Gray's Papaya, the subway..but know that LA is where God wants us to be right now. His grace is sufficient; I can't live through a day without depending on Him. My love affair with photography began when I was sixteen years old, when I saw a photograph taken by my cousin at South Seaport in NYC--it was a light switch turned on somewhere inside me. When I came home, I dove into photography. Since then, I've always had a burning desire to pursue photography. It was unfortunately cut short due to choosing another field of study during my college years..not until I became a stay-at-home mom and a God-given opportunity early this year, I was able to finally reunite with this passion..and the rest is history.
