A Gift

A few weeks ago, we celebrated Mother's Day while on vacation, in New Jersey. Benny wanted to surprise me with something different, bought me a tripod. It was not grand, just a simple, easy-to-use tripod. I was ecstatic. With this small gift, I am able to take my hobby to a different level.

And I put it to use yesterday.

This was right by our house, just a 5-minute walk away. With the sun setting, and a little help of Photoshop, the result was satisfactory. You can see another version here.

Trust me, it was a little awkward. With so many cars passing by, joggers staring, shoppers walking, kids playing, we were quite the main subject on the street. We laughed at the whole idea, attempted to hide our identities, and were risking falling flat on my face (trying to run into the scene within 10 seconds on these rocks was not exactly easy). Thank goodness they came out. Not quite how I imagined, but they came out. Now we will always look back at these photos and remember the process of creating them. I know we will always crack up.

That's beautiful! My hubby suggested a tripod as an anniversary gift. Lately all my gifts are photography related too! Can't ever imagine WHY??

Off to see your other version. Oh and what part of NJ do you hail from? Have a nice weekend!

About me

I am a wife to a loving, thoughtful husband, a mother of two little angels. Because of my husband's job, we have relocated from New Jersey to Los Angeles three years ago. I miss everything back East..NYC, Gray's Papaya, the subway..but know that LA is where God wants us to be right now. His grace is sufficient; I can't live through a day without depending on Him. My love affair with photography began when I was sixteen years old, when I saw a photograph taken by my cousin at South Seaport in NYC--it was a light switch turned on somewhere inside me. When I came home, I dove into photography. Since then, I've always had a burning desire to pursue photography. It was unfortunately cut short due to choosing another field of study during my college years..not until I became a stay-at-home mom and a God-given opportunity early this year, I was able to finally reunite with this passion..and the rest is history.
